She also finished the first draft of Irreversible Webs while on tour. It will be released September 2011.
With the same drama, tension, and high style that hooked readers in the national award-winning Webs of Power, the sequel will entangle you in webs of deception. Out of love and desperation, a good man takes
fate into his own hands and commits an unthinkable crime. For eight long
years, his reckless action traps two drastically different families in
a heartbreaking tangle of secrets and lies.
Darlene has just returned from her very successful book tour that included New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. She had book signings as well as stock signings in several cities, national and local radio shows and six TV interviews. With over 250 radio shows behind her and several more ahead, as well as more TV interviews being requested, Darlene has become an influential guest and media commentator. Part II – “The Wiles of Vela,” is part II. Both can be purchased through Amazon and Barnes & Noble.com in addition to the book’s website: www.velakurv.com. Vela Kurv Legacies explores two strong themes, betrayal and death. Initially designed to market to a market between the ages of 18 – 25, the age bracket dropped in the book’s rewrites, to age 15, with high school sophomores leading the target range. The works cut with that unusual double-edged sword-they will appeal to the age group of high school students yet they also have enough emotional redeeming value to appeal to their parents. The Buy Your Child a Book Project encourages authors,
educators and publishers to develop literature and programs that increase
the number of heroes of color in children’s books. Focusing on
such topics as creating diversity in children’s literature, the
shortage of age-appropriate books for children of color, the translation
of brain research to the classroom and other educational innovations,
the foundation seeks to encourage the creation of heroes of color in
literature as well as to other social platforms, including the entertainment
industry, to schools, communities and businesses.
In addition, Riley Rose’s experience includes
film finance work through Broadway Federal Bank for Deborah Pratt (Quantum
Leap Co-Executive Producer, and Magnum, P.I., Writer); Chas Johnson,

'Panzer 88' Gary Kurtz, the producer of the first two "Star Wars" films and the man who walked away from the franchise in 1980, is not the excitable type. He speaks in even tones and pragmatic terms, but there was a clear tinge of eager energy in his voice when he sat down recently to discuss “Panzer 88,” his first foray into effects-heavy feature films since the 1980s. “It’s a good, good project, you haven’t seen anything like it for a while,” Kurtz said of the spooky wartime adventure that is planned as a $20 million independent film and will begin shooting in the winter. “It’s a visceral, reality-based story with horror overtones, and the idea is to have be like the best of the graphic novels these days.” Sept 2010 Darlene Quinn announces release of "Twisted

Novak will sign the book Saturday on Balboa Island and later this month in Costa Mesa. “This is a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes of the contemporary art world, and it follows the life of an artist in a fictional upscale beach community in Orange County,” Novak said; she called the community Emerald Beach.
When she read “The Devil Wears Prada,” another work of fiction loosely based on real life, she knew she was on to something. “I was very inspired by the book,” Novak said. “I thought I would write my own story that combined art and fashion and glamour.” People already have asked Novak which scenes and characters in her book were based on real life; with a knowing smile, Novak said she doesn’t give up her sources. “This is a novel of fiction,” she said. “The main character is a glamorous, fun-loving, worldly artist. It’s kind of a champagne cocktail story with a dark side.” In developing her book, Novak, who said she doesn’t have a background in writing, joined local writing groups and began reading everything she could get her hands on. “To really focus, I just had to stay home and work on it constantly,” Novak said. “The more I wrote, the more it evolved.” Signings for “Art Damaged” When And Where: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Martha’s Bookstore, 308 Marine Ave., Balboa Island; 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 28, Borders Books & Music, 1890 Newport Blvd., Costa Mesa November 2009 Member Author Amy Reiley announces KISS MY BUNDT Meet the author - Sunday November 29th. 1pm-4pm (Los Angeles, CA) Bakery owner Chrysta Wilson of Kiss My Bundt shares her secrets to making best-selling cakes just in time for the Holidays with her first book, Kiss My Bundt: recipes from the award-winning bakery.

Here goes: I get a lot of pleasure out of walking around in Venice, though the Boardwalk has always disturbed me. And I could never get used to what it has become in the last thirty-five years. Venice, of course, has many memories for me. There was a lot of suffering and a lot of activism and it was a struggle for everyone living there when I was a child in the sixties. People were struggling to change things or to survive. Now it seems to have become a playground for a lot of people, not that that is a bad thing. And the struggle for change and survival of course, still goes on." The Free Venice Beachhead has been around for

Note: Shelia's announcement is so important, we posted it in its entirety) Most of you know I've been volunteering in a hospice since I retired three years ago. I've seen far too many of our young people lose their lives to AIDS. It's not a pretty killer. It takes away your health, your beauty, your dignity. And often it seems to take away friends and family too, leaving only the kind hospice staff and the volunteers to hold your hand and keep you company. When I was in Rwanda last year, I met women, many with small children, who had been deliberately infected by their HIV positive rapists during Rwanda's horrifying genocide. Now they're overwhelming the few clinics in that poor country because they're dying of AIDS. Often, the children of these mothers are infected too and they will be left as orphans to suffer alone. Did you know that we have a serious emergency developing in this country among children aged 15 to 24? We have to find a cure! To help raise money towards finding that cure, I'm participating in a 5K walk in Long Beach, on June 21st, 2008. I've sent in my $25 registration, and – artificial hips and pins in my foot be darned! – I'll be walking. I'm asking you to help by donating too. Any amount will be welcome, no matter how little you can afford. Or match my contribution. Or better yet, beat it! Please, open your heart and your checkbook. October 2007 Lisa Marguerite Mora's personal essay “Series of Circles” has been published by Common Ties (commonties.com) with the possibility of it being anthologized in a future print volume. Common Ties looks for personal stories - from anywhere in the world - that trigger strong emotional reactions. Common Ties is inspired by the works of John Steinbeck ("Travels with Charley: In Search of America"), Studs Terkel ("Working"), and Charles Kuralt ("On the Road"). Historically, people have been telling stories longer than they have been writing them. Common Ties honors both the written word and the audio delivery, adapting stories from a range of sources, including newspapers and magazines. Some of the stories we produce are quite intimate, at times even graphic and gritty; this is because we want to get at the heart of the human spirit, both our struggles and successes, on every topic imaginable.
