 Naomi
Hirahara is the Edgar Award-winning author of the Mas Arai
mystery series, which features a Japanese American gardener
and atomic-bomb survivor who solves crimes. Her fifth novel
in the series, Strawberry Yellow, will be released in March
2013. She also has a book for middle-grade readers, 1001
Cranes, which was chosen as an Honor Book for the Youth Literature
of the Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature.
She is currently at work on another middle-grade novel,
as well as a new mystery series for Penguin Berkley with
a twentysomething multiracial LAPD bicycle cop. Her mystery
novels have also been published in Japan and Korea.
Hirahara, born and raised in Southern California, is a former

 Daniel
A. Olivas is the author of six books of fiction including
The Book of Want: A Novel (University of Arizona Press),
and Anywhere But L.A.: Stories (Bilingual Press). He
edited the landmark anthology, Latinos in Lotusland (Bilingual
Press), which brings together 60 years of Los Angeles fiction
by Latino writers.
Widely anthologized, his writing has also appeared in many
publications such as the Los Angeles Times, the El Paso Times,
Exquisite Corpse, The Jewish Journal, California Lawyer,
and New Madrid. He shares blogging duties on La Bloga
which is dedicated to literature by Latino writers.
Olivas majored in English literature at Stanford University
and earned his law degree from UCLA. Since 1990, he
has practiced law in the Public Rights Division of the California
Department of Justice. Olivas makes his home in the
San Fernando Valley with his wife and son.

 Gary
Phillips’ latest novel is the Warlord of Willow
Ridge wherein a stranger with a shady past arrives at
a suburban housing subdivision and squats in a foreclosed
home. Publishers Weekly said of the book, “…the
author does manage to create a compelling protagonist who
suggests Donald Westlake’s classic antihero Parker
reincarnated with more heart, personality, and sex appeal.”
He has an original short story upcoming in the Heroin
Chronicles, and is co-editor and contributor to Black
Pulp, an original collection of African American characters
inspired by 1930s pulps, as well as the anthology Night
of the Insurgents, a collection of linked short stories
based on the actual attempt of rightwing businessmen to
overthrow FDR during the Great Depression. The anthology
features Operator 5, a super spy before Bauer and Bond
who was a mainstay of 1930s pulps. Both will be out
in Spring of 2013.

 Deborah
M. Pratt is a significant force in Hollywood. She’s
an American Director, Writer, television Executive Producer
and actress. She was Executive Producer of “The Net” for
USA network, co-Executive producer and head writer on iconic
NBC series the Quantum Leap and Tequila and Bonette for CBS.
She wrote for multiple television series including Quantum
Leap, Magnum, P.I., The Pretender and Airwolf. She made her

 Ms. Moore is the author of Griffin's Daughter,
her debut novel and the first in her romantic fantasy Griffin's
Daughter trilogy, was named 2008 IBPA Ben Franklin Award
Winner for Best First Fiction. Griffin's Shadow, the

organization that provides a forum for writers of all disciplines to
